Generally car dealerships have customer relationship management (CRM) programs whose goal is to get customers back in for service on their vehicle, buy new cars in a few years, and encourage referrals. These are often part of the large software programs they use to run the dealership. Car manufacturers also try to encourage loyalty by sending out coupons for service specials at local dealerships, for example. The more they can get you at the dealership, the more it will reinforce their name. The point of getting you in for service is establishing the habit of going to the same place for all your automotive needs so that, whenever you decide to purchase a new vehicle, you automatically think to go to the same dealership.
